Design feedback
A problem with my unit has surfaced, I've been too busy to do anything about it. I think one of my motors stopped working, and this is shortly after the lube pump stopped working and I just tried to rinse it out and leave it empty. Well it's virtually impossible to completely drain, and noticed it leaking a bit out of the cable grommet. I'm guessing moisture killed the motor.
Honestly I think the whole lube pump thing wasn't designed well. As well as the rest of the device when you consider having to clean it, It would be ideal if the sensitive motor and electronics would be able to detach from the rest of the unit, then reconnect through a drive shaft or gear box and some water tight connector (a short cable lead that's completely sealed at the base and has a good connector at the end would work great) The whole lube pump and reservoir should definitely be detachable, so that you can full rinse it, and dry it. I know these magnetic pumps are fully sealed so it seems like it could have even been a part of the removable shell with a slightly smaller detachable resevoir. As is the lube pump is practically unusable in my opinion, due to leaking, clogging, and storage reasons. Which is really unfortunate because lube just sprays off in use and it's a pain to relube during use manually. Maybe some ideas for RT v2.0? I'll be happy to test and provide more feedback

RE: Design feedback
Not yet, like I said i haven't had a chance. I've been far too busy to call during normal hours, I'm going to have to just send an e-mail.

RE: Design feedback
Sent an e-mail and a bit less than a week later got a RMA approval. Probably would have gone faster if I called.
Regardless of any part of the design I may not like, I must say the customer service has been top notch. |

RE: Design feedback
I have a suggestion. As many know I like my RealTouch and support the company very strongly. One problem I have is the lube temp. The unit warms up nice and when you feel the lube go onto the belts its cold. A warmer for the lube would be a great improvement.
I would also like to say big Kudos to the product support department. I had my Tower go bad and it was replaced with no trouble. I posted a problem here in the forum and the next day I had an email. What great a great responce. I think I may have the reason. When connecting or disconnecting the RealTouch I would suggest turning the power off on the tower. I do not know if this is what happened, but it makes sense. I have all my electronics into power conditioners here as the power sucks. So I conclude that that may be the issue. Play it safe so you won't be waiting for a week to play again. |

RE: Design feedback
I've had my replacement unit for a little while now, used it a handful of times. Lube pump is already clogged or burned out (you can faintly hear the buzz when it tries to pump). Thats ok though I can live with that as long as both belts keep working.
As long as this thread is called design feedback, I'll continue with that theme. I really wish that the finish of the product was a bit better. It doesn't latch together very well (in some ways this actually works out, without the lube pump working. the outer shell can be latched only on the bottom, with a gap open at the top to squirt in some lube as needed) Most important part of the finish that should be improved is how sharp the edges are, you have to be careful not to cut yourself. |
