Full Version: Review - Some New Info

Packaging:
Plain, weird box (not very sturdy), bunch of cords, etc inside. But who cares.

Setup:
Somewhat painful. There was no mention that you need to login with your email and "RealTouch" as the password the first time (that I could find). That should be made very obvious in the emails, materials, etc. Once logged in it was a snap, except.. I had problems getting the plug-in to work with Windows 7. You have to install it for "all users" (very important). Then every time WMP is started you have to re-enable the plug-in. Annoying, but not a deal breaker if you leave WMP open for your entire session. There is a WMP11 install for Windows 7 but at this point I'm not going to bother with that, and hope the plug-in gets fixed soon.

Hardware:
The build quality was not as good as I expected. But, not terrible. The worst part is the "lid". It's difficult to remove and has very sharp edges. I sliced a tiny bit of skin off a finger trying to open it. It's not a very good design from a usability standpoint. Lastly, the huge cable dragging off the back, it's connection, and the tangle of boxes and other cords could stand to be improved.

First Use:
The device accurately performs just like the on screen action, which is amazing, but it's too intense. It's like a Fleshlight super ribbed. Almost no sex act is that intense and it's little jarring having ratcheted back from the super intense Fleshlights, to more natural feeling ones. That said, it got the job done, I enjoyed it, and will use it again (but not too often). The finish is a real problem though. I'm used to being able to stroke right through, and the ultra intense action of the RealTouch made for a rough ending. The only other problem was from constant buffering. It may be isolated to may setup (which I'll work to fix) but coming from downloaded, local video use, it was unexpected to ever have a break in the action.

Lube:
Everywhere? Yep. I will no longer fill the lube and I will lube it myself. The built-in feature is undesired as on any setting it leaks lube everywhere. I think this is a case of over-engineering.

Noise:
Loud ratcheting coming from the orifice during certain parts of most scenes. Most of the time the noise level is fine. I'm not even sure the orifice provides much value.

Content:
I had trouble finding a good scene. No free previews, no title searching. It's kind of a hope for the best system right now and that's not really acceptable at the prices being charged. Of course you can always jump out of the video if you don't like it.

Suggestions to RealTouch (by priority):
1. Work on the intensity. Speed control/limit and/or different belt texture(s) needed badly. *** Key Problem ***
2. Fix the orifice or allow it to be turned off. It ratchets very loudly when it can't close further, which is very distracting.
3. Support Windows 7 fully. Without full support you might loose a key segment of your customers (ie. early adopters, etc).
4. Free previews of videos (even just screen caps) and text based searching (title, star).
5. Make the 2min warm-up feature an option instead having it always run when turned on. Currently it assumes you'll never have problems. Bad assumption on a new product.
6. Fix that lid. It's too sharp and hard to open. I'll hit mine with sand paper.
7. Provide a finish button to move you to the finish sequence for a slow/nice/accurate ending. Becomes a "nice to have" if #1 is fixed. Right now finishing is really bad (too intense).
8. Fix the lube problems or at least contain the lube better. (this is a low priority because you can choose not to use the lube feature)
9. Make that activation sequence dead simple. It's close.

Final Word:
No regrets, but I'd love to see some improvements.
Great review! Totally agree with your suggestions...especially the intensity and flimsy, sharp lid. Future versions should be easier to open/close and not sharp, something similar to the tenga flip hole.
As for Windows 7. We are currently testing and getting something together so that Windows 7 users can use RealTouch with no problems. However the system requirements are for XP or Vista and NOT Windows 7. That being said anyone who purchases a RealTouch and has Windows 7 should be aware that they will run into some issues.
Good point Haptic. Despite Windows 7 not being officially supported, the support staff got me up and running when I fully expected them to just tell me to run it on Vista/XP. I was impressed.

With Windows 7 being released next week, I'd suggest putting some information in the box or on the website. Even just the knowledge that it works and that it has some issues is very important as people consider upgrading.
(Note: The suggestions on the first post have been updated to reflect my new thoughts on the product)

Second try:

Lube: The built-in feature is completely unwanted because on any setting (ie. OFF) it leaks lube everywhere and in large amounts.
Noise: I ran into the problem others spoke of. It sounds like a drill exceeding it's torque and ratcheting because it can't continue. I'm almost certain this is in the orifice area. It's likely trying to close more than it can and because it's got a low torque it's starts ratcheting.
Warm up: It runs every time you turn on the power or plug in the usb. If you have any problems you'll end up wasting a ton of time waiting for the thing to warm up when it does not need to. This needs to be an optional/as needed feature.
Software: I ran into software problems on both XP and Windows 7. Minor, but enough that the warm ups and lube issues became very bad.
UM........ THIS IS WHAT THE NO# 1 thing should be on Real Touch right now......... Make DVDs to own instead of having to pay by the minuet. SO MANY people out there and reviews i see all say that if you could just purchase the dvds. instead of VOD. then we would buy it. So does anyone have a clue to when at all possible this might take place? hopefully soon bc i really want to purchase this, sounds fun! you know its like saying...... " here is the NEW XBOX 360, you can buy it but the games you play you must pay buy the minuet. and you cant buy the games. I mean cmon. any takers???
