the venus 2000 is alright,noisy,the rythmic stroking is very robotic,jackhamer,so when you are blowing your nuts off,its very intense,sometimes to intense,the attachments are allright,the latex material needs to be reordered as the gum liner does wear out,its very durable,i think ive had the unit for about 10 years,acouple years ago i purchased the remote controll unit,on a chord,that adjusts the strokeing lenght,instead of the air line you would clamp of to adjust lenght,im looking foward to trying the real touch,just another product to enhance nut explosion
I too have experience with the Venus 2000. Like many other toys, the main reason I don't use it more is setting it up and tearing it down every time (lots of hoses and chords plus a heavy pump device), and also cleaning (though cleaning is actually relatively easy). And since it's bulky, it sort of makes it hard to use everywhere too (you need a bit of space, electrical outlet, a place for the control modules, etc.) And like you say, the liner material does wear out, so there are some maintenance costs in addition to the steep price tag.
I also seem to have a particularly annoying problem of having the receiver pop off at the most inconvenient times. (You have to measure and custom order the receivers, and I did this twice thinking that was the problem but no joy - you can make your own receiver, but it's a pretty involved process). It is a good device when it's good, and if I were "bigger" I'd use it more. I've just been frustrated as most of the times I try it, just a little too much air gets in and the receiver pumps itself right off my penis. The only solution is decreasing air and increasing suction, but this limits the motion to the point of being less than best-feeling.

At this point with some of the things coming down the pike, I'd honestly say yes, I wouldn't personally spend the money, but that's just me. RealTouch and some of the other products coming down the pike (the Japanese auto-dolphin polishes for example lol) look more interesting to me and much more affordable (well, initially at least; maybe not RealTouch with usage costs but time will tell).
Venus 2K does what it says it will and genuinely can be great, so I certainly don't want to bash the product. And it also has been out for a long time now - it really was one of the only devices of its kind for a long time. Also, most people don't seem to have the receiver falling off problem (but I'm not the biggest guy in the world and that's probably part of it), and I might use it more if I was able to work around that issues (have some ideas but never bothered to try them all yet). For me, the hassle of setup is the biggest thing against it - most of the time I'd simply rather sit down with a good sleeve and porn than mess with valves and hoses and receivers and such.

Like other posters, I've had my Venus 2000 for awhile (4 years). Sleeve fit is critical, and getting the latex insert/size correct is critical. It does take time to master it....how much air to move out of the cylinder (or add to it), speed, etc. So it can definitely interrupt the mood. At the same time, I have edged with this thing for up to 90 minutes (adding water based lube as required). When you finally decide to pop, you can literally come unglued as the semen is seemingly sucked out of your dick....and you HAVE to be ready to shut down the stroking or it gets downright painful. (Same if you jackoff and keep jacking after you cum.) Cleanup is easy...as you just take off the endpieces and flush it out with warm water. MUCH easier than a Fleshlight which seems to never get dry and requires messy cornstarch to keep it from sticking together. It IS very expensive, and it IS pretty cumbersome with control unit, connecting cables, and two tubes (one removing air), and the other providing propulsion. I think the best world (if you can afford it), is to have multiple devices so you can mix it up. AND, frankly, at times I just love the feel of my hand. Venus is a good system, but it does have its downsides.
