This is why I refuse to buy one. Quite frankly I feel they went for greed and I don't think it's helping them. When you sell a console of any kind, it's pretty routine (and a no-brainer) to give the buyer at least one pack-in program, and then along the way you advertise other programs (upselling). Countless extremely successful companies have done this for years and have had amazing success. Just ask the video gaming industry. Just imagine having to pay per minute to play a video game? The thought of that is ridiculous in this day and age. There is a reason why the arcades died... once people could get consoles at home and play whenever they wanted, they no longer wanted to pay on a timed basis like the arcades forced you into. Console makers made money through offering various games. RT is trying to do a similar thing except they are stuck with the arcade mentality of paying to play on a timed basis, and eventually this will be their downfall.
There is no way I'm going to spend $200 and then be forced into some lame pay-per minute deal just to be able to use it. Hell, there is a recession going on, lol.
Internet connections can screw up, so what happens when my video doesn't run properly and I lose my minutes (which I've read people having trouble with)? What were they thinking?
When they decide to stop being overly greedy and start releasing some coded videos that we can use anytime, I'll gladly be on board because it looks like a great invention. Until then, I'd rather just watch a porno for free and use a fleshlight instead of eventually emptying my life savings to use this thing.
